Accessibility and W3C
puntNL is of the opinion that information must be accessible to everybody. Also, therefore, to those with motor, visual, audio or mental disabilities.puntNL complies with the following guidelines when building web applications.
- Strict division between form and content.
- Layered construction.
- The correct application of internationally fixed web standards such as ECMAscript and W3C’s HTML, CSS, DOM and WCAG.
Websites built according to these guidelines have the following advantages over traditional websites:
- The website is quicker.
- The chance of finding it with Google is better.
- Sites can be successfully consulted with different browsers.
- The costs of managing a website are lower because the division between form and content means that alterations can be carried out more simply.
- The accessibility of the site for those with functional limitations is optimised.
As well as the ethical considerations, there is another, more important reason to follow these standards when building a website. A website built according to the W3C standards is also more accessible for non-disabled visitors.
By following the standards, your website is more accessible than if the standards are not adhered to when building the site.
