Webshop
A visitor can use a webshop to buy products directly, to book a holiday, order tickets for a show and so on. During the first few years of the internet there was, understandably, a certain amount of apprehension, but ordering via the internet has now been firmly established, even in the Netherlands.
The creation of iDEAL has certainly contributed to this. iDEAL is a
Dutch standard for making internet payments and is owned by Currence,
the operator of payment methods such as PIN and Chipknip. Consumers who
bank with ABN AMRO, Postbank, Rabobank, SNS Bank and Fortis Bank can pay
with iDEAL. puntNL has been making webshops from the beginning, simply because they are an integral part of the set-up. Payment was possible using credit cards, a one-off authorisation, pre-payment or giro form. A good example here is the Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum’s shop. The first webshop was created in 2001. The number of orders as well as the price of each order has grown phenomenally in the last few years.
Reporting module
The owner of the webshop receives the orders, via a secured server, as a readable e-mail. It is possible to save the content of these e-mails in a database and use a report generator to generate a customised report. This report shows, for example, what turnover has been achieved over a certain period, which articles are bought most frequently, which country the orders are coming from and so on.
