WIGJ aims to ensure that crimes against women committed during times of war, such as rape and abuse, do not go unpunished. They direct their efforts towards trying to influence the International Court of Justice in The Hague by making judges aware of the existence of this sort of crimes. The rape of women, for example, used to be considered as a type of side-effect and was not treated as a war-crime.
